Cooperation with Woonbron housing association from the Netherlands

For couple of years now the Dutch housing association Woonbron has established working relations with Bulgarian organizations in the field of housing. The continuation of this cooperation has been supported within the frame of MATRA project ‘Sustainable Housing Management in Bulgaria. Improving the Capacity of Homeowners Associations of Multi-family Apartment Buildings’. As a result of the project an initiative group of homeowners, homeowners associations and housing experts has created the Union of Homeowners Associations in Bulgaria (CAC). In April 2006 the Managing Board of CAC together with representative of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works has participated in working visit to the Netherlands. The program has shown the experience of Dutch housing associations in maintenance, management and renovation of condominium buildings. A Declaration for cooperation has been signed between the Dutch housing association Woonbron and the Union of Homeowners Associations in Bulgaria. The expected results are related to institutional strengthening of CAC and its capacity to unite and support homeowners associations in their efforts to achieve high quality of living environment, to collect and disseminate necessary information and training in regard to sustainable maintenance, management and renovation of condominium multi-family apartment buildings in Bulgaria.

In November 2006 a project for the institutional strengthening of CAC has started within the framework of the signed Declaration for cooperation. The main project goal is to support the successful implementation of the adoped working program of CAC for the period 2006-2008.
